Happy Holidays from BroadFutures!
Thanks for your inspired support in 2017 and wishing you the best in 2018.

2017 – What an Amazing Year it has Been!!!
2017 has proven a very successful and productive year here at BroadFutures.  We are so thankful to our participants, their families, our employer partners, amazing staff and generous donors for helping us to empower those we serve and to create a diverse workplace.  During 2017, we were able to bring our total number of interns directly served to over 70 and increase our number of employer partners to over 25.  We are also becoming recognized in the Washington Metropolitan area as a program of excellence and impact.

In 2018, we are looking forward to doubling our Summer Program as well as welcoming a new group of interns and several new employers this Winter for our 8th program!!!

Intern Spotlight:
This month, we are shining the spotlight on Leigh Ulica, an alumni from our Summer 2017 program!
Leigh Ulica

Leigh was a participant in our Summer 2017 program and spent this past summer interning at the American Psychological Association (APA), where he worked in the accounting department. After an incredibly successful summer, we are thrilled to announce that Leigh has accepted a full-time position with APA as an Accounts Payable Specialist! His responsibilities include calling vendors to make payments, auditing and posting expense reports, updating vendor information, and completing other related accounting projects.

Leigh cites the holistic approach to training, especially our drama and improvisation components, as being his favorite parts of the program. He also feels that BroadFutures impacted him the most by helping him to be part of a team. As Leigh explains, “BroadFutures taught me the important social skills necessary for the work world.”  We are so proud of your incredible accomplishments, and CONGRATULATIONS LEIGH on your full-time employment!

Employer Spotlight:

To close out this year, we are excited to honor Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital as one of our dedicated employer partners. Girl Scouts is a national organization with over 2.6 million members including girls and adults who are involved in furthering its mission and legacy to help build girls of courage and confidence. Find out more about Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital here!

Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital has served as an employer partner for the past two summers. This summer they hosted on our our intern Sydney, who was able to use her creativity and graphic design skills to help further the mission of empowering girls all over the country to be leaders and help their communities. Inclusivity and diversity are a core part of the Girl Scouts mission and as Michelle Eider, Public Relations Specialist, said about our partnership:

“Girl Scouts has always been an inclusive organization. We believe in the power of every girl, and have enjoyed working with Broad Futures to help shape a more diverse workforce.”
Thank you, Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital, for your support and commitment to our program and mission!!!
