A Great Start to our Summer Program!

Introducing our 11th cohort of interns! This is our largest group to date, with 36 talented young people participating in our program this summer. Our interns successfully completed their initial two weeks of training and have now officially started their internships. This is an incredible group of interns, with diverse talents, interests, and hopes for their futures. We look forward to being a part of their journey this summer as they gain professional and invaluable skills.

Moving In, Moving Up, Moving On

We are excited to welcome our new Program Associate, Carole Trevey, to BroadFutures.
Carole is committed to ensuring that individuals with learning disabilities experience equal opportunities in the workplace.  In addition to her overall responsibilities as a Program Associate, Carole will also serve as a mentor, and provide critical support for our marketing and fundraising activities. Carole has held several marketing and advertising internships, where she has worked on advertising campaigns, media plans, branding projects, website development, as well as social media. She recently graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Psychology and Media Studies.

We are happy to report that   Alexa Weidanz,  who has proven an invaluable member of our BroadFutures team over the past two years, has been promoted to Senior Program Associate. We are thrilled and so very fortunate to have such a talented, committed and compassionate partner beginning her third year with us at BroadFutures. Congratulations Alexa and thanks for all of your hard work!

David Kalwicz  has also been recently promoted -  from Program Intern to Program Assistant. David worked as an intern with our Winter 2019 Program and is now serving as a mentor and Program Assistant for our Summer Program. David brings a fun and innovative spirit to the BroadFutures team. We are excited to have you back, David, and congratulations!

Last but not least, we are thrilled to announce that Emily Sheffield , one of our former Program Associates, has accepted a new job at EAB. She will be working as a Member Development Associate for Higher Education. While we are sad to see her go and appreciate all she contributed to our mission, we are excited for her new opportunities!

Intern Spotlight - Jordan Shattuck

This month we are shining the spotlight on intern Jordan Shattuck ! Jordan is a 23-year-old from Philadelphia. He graduated from Clark University with a degree in Political Science in 2018.

Jordan participated in our Winter 2019 Program and interned with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) where he proved himself to be an incredibly dedicated and successful intern. Jordan returns to BroadFutures this summer as an alumni intern. He will be interning at one of our new employer partners, The Office of Senator Chuck Schumer, and is very excited to expand his professional network within the political sphere.

Jordan had these reflective thoughts to say about his BroadFutures experience to date: "BroadFutures has allowed me to grow professionally in areas that I have, in the past, struggled with to some degree. It has allowed me to better utilize my skills in networking and workplace communication to become a more efficient worker."

Thank you, Jordan, for all of your hard work so far. We are proud of your accomplishments and can't wait to see what you will achieve next!
