We have been busy spreading the word about the work we do!

In a new episode of Attention Talk Radio, ADHD Coach Jeff Copper interviews Carolyn Jeppsen. In the episode, titled "COVID-19: Is It Time for an ADHD Gap Year to Work on Life and Work Readiness", they talk about the dynamic that's going on now and the advantages of taking a gap year or semester and spending it working on life and work readiness so that, when things resume, you are in a good position to take advantage of them.

Carolyn Jeppsen spoke at the Let's Talk LD College Planning & Transition Conference for Neurodiverse Learners. Her presentation, "An Innovative Approach to College and Career Readiness for Neurodiverse Learners", was held on September 26th.

A webinar from DisabilityIN will be coming out soon featuring some of our interns, as well as one of our employer partners, Senator Van Hollen.
Summer Participant Spotlight - George Palmer

This month we are excited to feature a virtual Summer Strengths Program participant from Washington, DC, George Palmer! George was an absolute pleasure to work with this summer. His fun and upbeat attitude added a positive energy to the group, making everyone feel included and more engaged. His contributions to the group were thoughtful and offered new perspectives to the group conversation. Before joining us for the summer, George had recently graduated from Kipp DC College Prep.

In addition to meeting new people, one of George's favorite parts of the Summer Strengths Program was the program's ability to make the curriculum interactive and enjoyable. He reflected, "I liked that we were able to learn even when we were playing games."

Currently, George is enjoying his freshman year at University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He plans to pursue a degree in Computer Science.

George, thank you for being such a great addition to our summer cohort. We wish you the best of luck at school and cannot wait to hear about your future successes!
Community Partner Spotlight - Game Genius

We are excited to introduce one of our community partners, Game Genius! We connected with Game Genius through the Catalogue for Philanthropy and are enjoying our partnership. Founded in 2018, Game Genius leverages the process of playing and making games for social good. Focusing on the local Washington, DC area, Game Genius offers workshops designed for teams to use games as the medium to test ideas, develop skills, and solve problems. They also offer public experiences, such as the District Hunt, that showcase the intersection of play and philanthropy.

Game Genius has empowered more than 100 nonprofits, including BroadFutures. During our virtual Summer Strengths Program, we had a wonderful time playing a game with our participants that Game Genius created, designed specifically to encourage teamwork and collaboration skills. Game Genius is also assisting BroadFutures with our Fall fundraiser, Together Towards Tomorrow, a Virtual Night of Celebration and Support. We are so grateful for all of their help and guidance!

We have worked closely with Peter Williamson, founder of Game Genius. Peter had this to say about partnering with BroadFutures: "Game Genius loves playing with the BroadFutures staff and community! Accessibility and inclusivity are two shared organizational values -- we strive to create experiences that consider different player stories and strengths. From playtesting new games to supporting their virtual gala, our partnership with BroadFutures has helped us become better designers."

Thanks so much, Peter! We could not be happier to have such an innovative and empowering community partner like Game Genius. You can learn more about Game Genius here.
