DC and National employers
Becoming a DC Internship Employer Partner
Our DC Program offers employers in the DC Metropolitan area a structured and organized program designed to provide employers with a diverse innovative talent pool. Our program boasts a 99% completion rate, 100% employer satisfaction, and 80% repeat partnerships, underscoring our commitment to excellence.
Key Features include
- Interns: Aged 18-26, many currently enrolled in or graduated from college, possessing the cognitive capacity for further education.
- Program Structure: in-person programming with dedicated sessions throughout the year.
- Internship Commitment: Minimum of 20 hours per week, Monday-Thursday.
- Training: Comprehensive one-week professional training for interns prior to internships, followed by ongoing weekly Friday sessions.
- Employer Participation: There is no minimum number of interns required to participate.
Becoming a National Employer Partner
Our National Program is designed to meet diverse employer needs, seamlessly integrating into existing internship programs, co-ops, or initiatives, or creating tailored new programs. The program boasts exceptional outcomes, including a 100% intern completion rate, 100% employer satisfaction, and a 70%+ conversion rate to full-time positions. This model is ideal for companies at any stage of their journey with neurodivergent talent, from those just starting to those further along.
Key Features include
- Interns aged 20-26, enrolled in four-year colleges and universities, graduate schools, or recent graduates.
- Nationwide availability, customizable to meet employer needs and operate year round.
- Tailored pre-program training and full-time internships, ideally leading to permanent job offers based on merit.
- ALL support (employer and intern) is fully remote
- Employers commit to hosting a minimum of 5 interns.

What is the typical skill set for BroadFutures interns?
BroadFutures interns bring diverse skills and educational backgrounds. All interns in our DC Programs have high school diplomas and are college-capable—many are enrolled, preparing to enroll, or have completed college and are exploring career paths. Their skill sets typically include:
- Basic office administration
- Research and writing
- Marketing and communication (including social media and graphic design)
- Information technology
- Data analysis
- Finance
- Customer service
Interns in the National Program Interns are all currently in college, recent graduates, or pursuing graduate studies. Their skill sets are primarily focused on STEM fields.
BroadFutures interns are capable of performing the same tasks as any intern or early career hire, working independently with appropriate supervision. They bring diverse talents and fresh perspectives, contributing meaningfully across a wide range of workplaces.
What is generally required of an Employer Partner?
Employers are expected to provide:
- A signed agreement that they will host BroadFutures Intern(s).
- A safe, conducive work environment with meaningful assignments for interns.
- Compensations for interns:
- The hours and pay vary by Program and employer policies.
- Some exceptions for nonprofits and government agencies where BroadFutures covers the stipend.
- A dedicated point of contact and supervisor who will:
- Provide productive feedback and guidance to interns
- Collaborate with BroadFutures
- Complete weekly intern evaluations provided by BroadFutures
- Complete a final intern assessment and program assessment
- Participate in brief virtual meetings with BroadFutures during the first few weeks of the internship
What is your intern vetting and matching process?
- Our comprehensive vetting process serves to ensure the selection of high-quality candidates who align with employer needs and workplace cultures and are well-prepared, motivated, and capable of contributing effectively to the workplace. It encompasses:
- A rigorous application review that considers work experience, educational background, applicable skill sets, interests, and hobbies.
- Interview and calls with two references for all qualified applicants.
- Our match process
- DC program: we are heavily engaged in matching interns with employer-host sites.
- The process is tailored to meet specific employer needs and workplace culture.
- The vast majority of our employers allow BroadFutures to handle the entire matching process. However, some employers are more intimately involved in the process.
- National program:
- Once interns have been vetted by Broad Futures, it is entirely up to the employer partner to decide which intern they want to work with and where to place them.
- BroadFutures can assist with this matching process if the employer wants or needs support.
What type of information will the employer receive about the intern?
BroadFutures provides employers with comprehensive information about their interns including:
- Intern resumes
- Detailed intern summaries that include the intern’s background, skill sets, strengths, and areas for support. For the National Program academic transcripts are provided.
- Before the start of the internship, BroadFutures conducts onboarding meetings including with BroadFutures coach/mentor, the intern, the supervisor, and any of the other key members of the employer’s team (if applicable).
- During the onboarding meeting, BroadFutures will introduce the intern’s strengths and support needs, educate the employer on any applicable reasonable accommodations, and provide guidance on ensuring success for neurodivergent interns in the workplace.
