2026 Theme: Our Year of Impact

In 2026, BroadFutures is centering everything we do around one word: Impact. From the confidence an intern builds in their first week on the job, to the culture shifts we see within employer teams, our work creates ripple effects that extend far beyond a single internship. This year, we are excited to share more stories, data, and voices that show how access to meaningful work transforms individuals, workplaces, and communities alike. Read on to see that impact in action.

Winter 2026 Program: Growth in Motion

Our Winter 2026 interns have officially hit their stride! Now, in the fourth week of their internships, they are putting the skills and strategies they learn in Friday trainings to practice. From ensuring accessibility in web content with AUCD, to facilitating the ReelAbilities Film Festival with DCTV, to becoming a certified U.S. Capitol tour guide, our interns are proving their potential and creating impact in their workplaces.

On Fridays, we met as a cohort to continue professional training, covering topics from navigating workplace changes to building financial stability. We also welcomed guest speakers who enriched our sessions, including Tim Fuchs, Deputy Executive Director of the ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia (ECNV), on self-advocacy, highlighting his own lived experience with neurodiversity; therapist Robin Brannan on stress tolerance techniques; Best Buddies’ Noemi Soto on time management; and social coach Kate Woodward on setting boundaries.

Four weeks down, seven more to go! Let’s wish this cohort luck as they continue to learn and grow in their internship placements.

Open House Recap

Last Thursday, BroadFutures opened its doors to the community for a morning of coffee and connection. Led by our Director of Outreach and Admissions Caitlin Garman, we welcomed a broad range of support professionals and advocates, all coming together around a shared mission of youth empowerment. We were thrilled to see so many connections being made and are grateful to everyone who joined us.

BroadFutures in the Community

BroadFutures has an impact way beyond just our internship programs. We were out and about in the community this February, sharing the word about our programs and hosting professional development development workshops for youth groups. We visited several colleges, including ASU Local where we presented our internship opportunities to local DC students. Additionally, our Program Team led workshops for local schools in the region, including The Sycamore School, where they led junior and senior seminar students through professional communication training.

Tune in next month to see where the BroadFutures team has impact in March!

Intern Spotlight

Meet Nadia, a BroadFutures Winter 2026 intern at the Atlas Performing Arts Center!

At the Atlas, she’s working on promoting their impressive roster of events, organizing flyers for upcoming performances and posting about them on social media. Nadia’s also paying the experience forward by working on a handbook for future interns to reference while working.

Reflecting on how BroadFutures helped them prepare for the internship, they shared: “At the Atlas, I have learned to stay on top of assignments and ways to focus on the work I’m doing with minimal distraction.”

We are thrilled to see Nadia honing her skills and gaining experience in their desired career path of art and design. Thank you to the incredible team at the Atlas for our partnership and for supporting Nadia on this journey.

Employer Spotlight

What better employer to spotlight during the month of love than Amore Learning? A first-time BroadFutures employer partner, Amore Learning is an education business focused on inspiring a love of learning through tutoring, enrichment classes, and educational consulting services.

Founder and CEO Chloe Kaplan shared her experience welcoming a BroadFutures intern onto her team:

“Our BroadFutures intern is such an asset to our team, and we are beyond delighted to host him for this internship! From the moment he joined our first meeting, Jack proved to be organized, inquisitive, thoughtful, and driven. We couldn’t ask for a more engaged intern and we hope he will be part of the Amore family for years to come!”

Thank you to Chloe and the Amore team for embracing neurodivergent talent and helping young people thrive!

Alum Spotlight

Our impact is best seen in the success and trajectories of our alumni. Meet Anelle Genfi, one of our incredible BroadFutures alumni from our Summer 2023 cohort, where she interned with Eagle Bank. Originally from Ghana and now based in Maryland, Anelle recently graduated with a Finance degree and is building her career at OTC Markets as an Associate Qualifications Analyst.

She shared that she still uses the skills she learned from BroadFutures in her new workplace, saying,

“I always write down what I plan to do in the day, take notes, and utilize the Eisenhower principle. Without the techniques BroadFutures has provided for me, I truly believe it would have been a lot more difficult to adjust to the job.”

Anelle’s advice for fellow neurodivergent young people? “Try to fail as much as possible. Once you fail, you are able to learn from your mistakes much faster.”

Anelle’s journey is a powerful reminder that BroadFutures’ impact does not end when a program does.
