| | Internship Program Update: One Week Left! |
|
|
| Can you believe that this year’s DC Summer Internship Program is almost over? Our 29 interns have spent the last seven weeks at internship placements across the DMV, exploring their career interests, gaining hands-on experience, and applying the skills they learned during BroadFutures’ Training Week and Friday Trainings.
Last Friday, our cohort was joined by Board Members, employer partners, and community volunteers for Mock Interview Day. Interns spent the morning practicing their personal pitches and reviewing common interview questions, before participating in group interviews led by our volunteers. | We have also been having a BLAST at our Friday social events, with many BroadFutures alumni joining the current cohort for a recent trip to the National Zoo! Last Friday also saw the group take a trip to the ballpark for a DC Nationals game, and today we will be heading to Dave & Buster’s for some Friday fun.
With one week left, our interns are wrapping up their journeys this summer and finalizing the impact they are leaving on their employer companies.

| Earlier this month, BroadFutures had a great time at the House Democratic Caucus' Internship & Fellowship Resource Fair on Capitol Hill!
It was great connecting with congressional offices, fellowship programs, and local organizations while sharing how BroadFutures helps neurodivergent talent build skills and launch meaningful careers.

| Meet Lily, a BroadFutures Summer 2026 intern at The Arc of Northern Virginia, a local chapter of a national disability justice organization.
At The Arc, Lily is creating and improving lessons for their Tech for Independent Living app, which helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities build independence.
Lily’s biggest takeaway has been: “Developing the ability to articulate and use plain language is an under-appreciated skill that will serve you well in nearly every area of life.”
Lily also put her pen to paper and wrote an article for The Arc’s “From the Self-Advocate’s Desk” series. Read it here.

| This July, BroadFutures is excited to spotlight one of our newest employer partners: KID Museum! KID Museum is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering children and youth to become empathetic, persistent problem-solvers, teammates, and changemakers.
Manager of Teaching & Learning Seth Fangboner shares:
“At KID Museum, we work to foster the “Mind of a Maker,” helping young people become creative, collaborative, and compassionate problem-solvers. Our intern has embraced that spirit in her work with our campers and her colleagues. | Meet Jack Davis, an incredible BroadFutures alum from our Winter 2025 cohort, where he interned with Easterseals, a nonprofit that advances equity and provides disability and community services.
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Jack now gives back to his community as an event assistant at a local community center, while also providing pet care services on the side. In the spirit of Disability Pride Month, Jack shares:
“There is no right or wrong way to be neurodivergent, and there are many ways to have a fulfilling life and career while also respecting your needs.”
From internship to community impact, Jack continues to turn ripples into meaningful change. |
