Q: How do internships benefit neurodivergent young people?
Internships are a wonderful way to gain professional experience, while also exploring various career paths. Internships provide an opportunity to learn about your strengths and areas for support, as well as providing a competitive advantage in the workplace. It has been shown that those who complete internships have an easier time entering the workforce and secure higher salaries than those who do not. BroadFutures’ internships are designed to challenge comfort zones and empower young people to achieve transformative, positive and successful futures.
Q: What types of internships do you have?
We work with a diverse group of employer partners, representing a variety of sectors including: Policy and Politics, IT/Computer Science/Engineering, Hospitality, Communication, Marketing & Design and others. To learn more about our employer partners click here.
Q: Are the internships paid?
Yes, our internships are all paid.
Q: Can I have another job while in the BroadFutures program?
We highly discourage working or taking classes while in our program. Between your internship, Friday training, and meeting with your mentor and coaches, which are all mandatory requirements, our program is a 30-35 hour a week commitment. For you to have a successful experience, we highly suggest that you use this time to focus solely on your participation in our program.
Q: Can I apply for an internship if I am from another country?
It is difficult for us to host non US citizens in internships as many of our employers require US citizenship to work and ALL require that you are legally able to work in the US. If you hold a work visa to work in the US, you may be eligible for some of our internships.
Q: What is the process and eligibility criteria for receiving scholarships?
BroadFutures has a STRONG commitment to financial accessibility and has an excellent track record of meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need. We intentionally keep program costs low to make our programs more accessible. Our program fees only make up 45% of our program costs. Scholarships are solely determined based on economic need, which is demonstrated by parental tax returns. We have a sliding scale for scholarships, which are awarded at all levels, including full scholarships (97% of program costs).
